Chapter 1
Lillian's POV
I pull on an outfit for the day. Golden skinny jeans and a comfy lion sweater with mid-calf combat boots. I yawn and rub my eyes, big black bags are underneath them. I just got here last night and I already have to go to school. I thought Mom might let me take the day off but she says I have to get a good start on school. It's already mid November and the students have been going since September.
"Lilly! Hurry up, you're going to be late!" My mom yells.
I rush down the stairs, grab my backpack, and kiss my mom's cheek. "Sorry, I'm not used to the time difference."
"It's fine," she says with a soft smile, handing me a piece of toast.
I grab it, thank her, and rush out the door just in time for my bus to pull up. Even though I have my license I can't drive to school. My mom needs the car to go to work and I don't have one of my own.
I climb the bus stairs and plop down in the first empty seat. I put my ear buds in and start my Ipod. Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi starts to play. I'm a huge fan of old music and I start to sing along inside my head. I turn it up a bit and zone out as they drive me to school.
My mom and I are from Maine but we moved here, to Wisconsin, because my mom divorced my dad. I'm nervous about moving but maybe this will be a good thing. I was very disliked at my old school for being a 'freak'. I listened to my music loud and didn't talk very often. We're approaching the school fast so I shift in my seat, hoping to get off the bus before everyone else is shoving past and not letting me through.
